Fascinated by the dark side of life, John (36), sees random connections between unrelated things. John’s partner Rosie (33), tolerates his flights of fancy but even she has her limit. Their irrepressible daughter, Ruby (7), is obsessed with the claw (crane grabber machines). On a family day out at the seaside, Ruby drags her long suffering parents onto the pier, and into an amusement arcade populated by misfits. To Ruby’s delight and her parents stupefaction, she plays ‘The Claw’ and claims a very improbable prize. The arcade misfits interpret this as a sign that Ruby has come to deliver them from an unspeakable curse. John discovers that despite his twisted imagination, when things turn proper weird, he’s well out of his depth.
